The Many Faces of Care
The 13th annual Community Caregiving Forum will be held Saturday, Nov. 2, 9 am-2 pm, in Sarasota Memorial’s first floor auditorium for caregivers and professionals in allied fields. A complimentary lunch will be provided to those who pre-register by Oct. 25.

Free respite care is available for attendees caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s or Dementia. Call (941) 365-8883 to obtain respite information. CEUs will be provided for qualified professionals for $20.

Lung Cancer Prevention & Screening
Free community education program, 10 am - 1 pm, Saturday, Nov. 9, in Sarasota Memorial’s first floor auditorium, 1700 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Free CT scan lung cancer screenings will be provided to the first 50 qualified Sarasota County residents. RSVP required: (941) 917-7777.

World Diabetes Day Symposium
Free community education event for people living with Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes and their caregivers, Saturday, Nov. 9, 1-5 pm (registration starts at 12:30 pm), SCF Lakewood Ranch, CIT Auditorium, 7131 Professional Pkwy. East, Sarasota. Light snacks and childcare provided.

Flu & Pneumonia Shot Clinics
Flu ($25) and Pneumonia ($60) vaccines are available at Sarasota Memorial’s four urgent care centers, 8 am-8 pm, seven days per week.

Medicare recipients must bring Medicare cards. Flu shots are available for adults and children 3 years and older.

Thanksgiving Day Volunteers
First Physicians Group, Sarasota Memorial Home Care, BayCare HomeCare and Faith Presbyterian Church have teamed up again this year to prepare and deliver dinners to homebound people on Thanksgiving Day.

Volunteers are welcome to help prepare and deliver meals in 2-hour shifts from the church, 1201 N. Beneva Road, 6 am-noon Nov. 28.

Caregiver Support
The Sarasota Caregiver Connection group meets at 9:30 am the second Wednesday of every month at Sarasota Memorial's Institute for Advanced Medicine, 5880 Rand Blvd. (off Clark Road.)

Sarasota Memorial’s Parkinson Wellness Club, geared toward those caring for Parkinson's patients but open to all caregivers, meets at the following locations:

• Sarasota – 9:30 am the third Wednesday of each month at the Institute for Advanced Medicine, 5880 Rand Blvd. (off Clark Road)
• North Port – 1:30 pm the second Wednesday of each month at the Morgan Family Community Center, 6207 West Price Blvd.
• Venice – 10 am the fourth Thursday of each month (except holidays) at the Gulf Coast Community Foundation - Community Room, 601 Tamiami Trail South.
• Bradenton/Heritage Harbour – 10 am the first Wednesday of each month at Sarasota Memorial Health Care & Urgent Care Center at Heritage Harbour, 1040 River Heritage Blvd., Bradenton.
