Managing Stroke Medications
Sarasota Memorial Pharmacist Amy Giovino will present “What every family should know about stroke medications” 1-1:45 pm Wednesday, Sept. 10, in the 4A-B meeting room at Sarasota Memorial Hospital (take B elevators to the 4th floor and follow signs to the conference room just past Windows Cafeteria). The free education session will be followed by the regular Stroke Support meeting at 2:30 pm.

HealthSquare – September '14 Events
Join our staff at Sarasota Memorial HealthSquare in the center of Westfield Sarasota Square mall for free health presentations and FootNotes, a book club featuring mall walks and discussions with SMH experts.

Upcoming events include:

• Mon., Sept. 15 (10:30am - 12pm) – Footnotes will feature a discussion of the book Breathing for a Living by Laura Rothenberg, led by Sarasota Memorial Child Life Specialist Jenna Rosato with tips on helping children with health conditions and hospital stays.

School Sports Physicals – Just $20
Sarasota Memorial is offering $20 school sports physicals at its five urgent care centers (conveniently located in Sarasota, Venice and Manatee) throughout the summer.

The centers are open 8 am-8 pm daily, including most holidays. No appointments necessary.

Prostate Cancer & Sexual Healing
The Men-to-Men prostate cancer education and support program resumes at Sarasota Memorial, with monthly programs September through May 2015.

Meetings are held 2-3:15 pm the fourth Monday of each month in Sarasota Memorial’s first floor auditorium, 1700 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.

Join Team SMH
Sarasota Memorial staff, physicians, volunteers, family members and friends are invited to join Team SMH at three upcoming walks that raise awareness for important health causes.

• Sarasota/Manatee 3K Heart Walk takes place at 8 am Saturday, Sept. 20 (activities begin at 7:30 am), at Payne Park, 2050 Adams Lane, Sarasota. SMH team shirts will be given to walkers who raise or make a $25 donation to the American Heart Association. For information, call (941) 917-2399.

• Walk to End Alzheimer’s takes place at 10 am Saturday, Oct. 11 (pre-walk registration and activities begin at 9 am) at JD Hamel Park in downtown Sarasota (across from Marina Jack).
