Diabetes Education Series
Sarasota Memorial’s certified diabetes educators are hosting a free education series to help with all aspects of diabetes – from reducing your risk to managing medications.

Join us for one session or the entire series, 11 am to noon, on the following Mondays at Sarasota Memorial’s HealthConnection, located on the first floor of the hospital near the B elevators. Information: (941) 917-7011 or email HealthConnection@smh.com.

July 13 – Diabetes: Prevention…Tips on how to reduce your risk of being diagnosed with diabetes.

Managing & Preventing Stroke
Education and prevention are key when it comes to preserving and restoring quality of life. If you or a loved one are at risk for a stroke, or managing the effects of a previous stroke, join our experts at two free education and support groups.

Sarasota Memorial's Stroke Support Group meets at 1 pm the first Wednesday of each month in the Education Room at Sarasota Memorial’s Institute for Advanced Medicine, 5880 Rand Blvd., and the Stroke Wellness Club meets at 1 pm the second Wednesday of each month in Room 4A&B at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, 1700 S. Tamiami Trail.

Mark Your Calendar
North Port 5-Year MEGA-Celebration

To celebrate our first five years in North Port, Sarasota Memorial is thanking the community in a MEGA-big way. Join us 9 am-2pm Saturday, Aug. 29, for our 5-Year MEGA-Celebration at the Sarasota Memorial North Port ER & Health Care Center in the North Port Medical Plaza, 2345 Bobcat Village Center Rd. (off Toledo Blade Blvd).

The event will feature the MEGA® Body, the world’s largest medical inflatable full-body walk-through exhibit of the human body, a trauma helicopter and other fire-rescue vehicles, a teddy bear clinic with free bears for the first 200 children and all the latest health information, including our “tech table.”

Prenatal Yoga with a Twist
Weekly class meets 7-8:15 pm Tuesday evenings in the Waldemere Medical Plaza Papaya Room (second floor), 1921 Waldemere St.

The twist...in addition to yoga, each class will include a discussion on a topic of interest such as nutrition and exercise during pregnancy, positions for labor, comfort measures during labor.

Parkinson Education & Support
Sarasota Memorial and the Neuro Challenge Foundation offer ongoing education and support for individuals affected by Parkinson's and other movement disorders at monthly wellness clubs and support groups in Bradenton, Sarasota, Venice and North Port.
