An annual mammogram is one of the most effective breast cancer screening methods available today. The American Cancer Society recommends that women age 40 and older have a screening mammogram and clinical breast exam annually.

Offering the latest diagnostic imaging technology and staffed by specialized breast radiologists, nurses and technologists, Sarasota Memorial's breast health team provides a full spectrum of screenings and advanced testing to detect breast abnormalities, including digital screening and diagnostic mammography, 3D mammography (tomosynthesis), breast ultrasound, cyst aspiration, breast MRI and surgical and nonsurgical biopsies.

Note: 3D Mammography (breast tomosynthesis) benefits all screening and diagnostic mammography patients, but is especially valuable for women receiving a baseline screening, those who have mammographically dense breast tissue and/or women with a personal history of breast cancer. From the time you make your first appointment through any questions, treatment or follow-up care that you may need, our Breast Health Navigator is available to guide you every step of the way. Whether you have questions about your screening, what your test results mean or what the next step in your care should be, our specially trained coordinator will assist and guide you through the treatment process. Since all women are at risk of developing breast cancer, understanding those risks are important and may help you choose ways to reduce your risk or screening options that would be best for you.
