FPG Recognized Nationally for Superior Performance

Oct/24/2014

Sarasota Memorial’s First Physicians Group has been repeatedly recognized at the national level for its superior work, and the awards continue to come in 2014.

The group recently was named a “Better Performing Practice” by the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA). It's the 11th time since 2002 that FPG has earned this prestigious honor.

Also this year, FPG Chief Operations Officer Ilene Gilbert-Droge, FACMPE, EFPM, MA, won MGMA’s “Medical Practice Executive of the Year" Award. The honor  recognizes a practice executive who has “demonstrated a noteworthy achievement of exceptional leadership and management proficiency to enhance strategic and operational effectiveness of health care delivery in the practice and community within the last three years.”

MGMA cited a number of accomplishments since Ilene joined FPG in 2010, including the opening of three new primary care offices, the strengthening of the system’s medical hospitalist program, enhancement of its cardiac service program, redesign of various physician compensation plans and increased system revenue. Practices within the group also obtained NCQA Patient-Centered Home Level III recognition. In recent years, the group also implemented the electronic health record and new practice management system, resulting in improved front-end processes and revenue capture.

FPG’s “better performer” designation recognizes the group’s superior operational performance compared with similar practices nationwide.

FPG was honored for both its its customer service and financial performance, earning distinction as a better performer in the categories of patient satisfaction, cost management/profitability and accounts receivable.

“We’re incredibly proud of FPG’s superior performance and Ilene’s oustanding leadership,” said Sarasota Memorial CEO David Verinder. “These well-deserved awards are a tribute to the group’s exceptional commitment to excellence in patient care.”

The medical group, which is led by Chief Medical Administrative Officer Jack Rodman, MD, includes 93 physicians, 23 ARNPs and PAs and 310 employees in 21 locations, with more than 4.5 million patient visits in the last two decades.
