SMH Installs New Physician Leaders

SARASOTA (Oct. 30, 2014)  – Sarasota Memorial’s medical staff installed its new leaders for 2014–2015, with GYN Oncologist James Fiorica, MD, becoming Sarasota Memorial’s chief of staff on Nov. 1. He succeeds outgoing chief of staff Anesthesiologist M. Cindy VonWaldner, MD, whose term ends Friday, Oct. 31.

James Fiorica, MDAs the new chief of staff, Dr. Fiorica, who serves as Sarasota Memorial’s medical director of Women’s Cancer Services and practices with Sarasota Memorial’s First Physician’s Group, will serve as the top representative of Sarasota Memorial’s more than 800 medical staff members. A member of SMH’s medical staff since 2004, 

Dr. Fiorica served as chief of staff-elect last year. He completed his medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA. He is board certified in Gynecologic Oncology and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologist.
