SMH Auxiliary Honors Volunteers, Installs 2015-2016 Board


SMH Auxiliary LuncheonSARASOTA, Fla. (Nov. 9, 2015) – Sarasota Memorial’s Volunteer Auxiliary celebrated more than 65 years of service at its annual Installation Luncheon Oct. 21 and appointed its 2015-2016 Board of Directors.

All Auxiliary volunteers were invited to attend the event at Michaels on East, along with the newly elected and past board members of the Volunteer Auxiliary, members of the Sarasota County Public Hospital Board and hospital staff. Sarasota Memorial Health Care System President & CEO David Verinder and Stacy Scott Berteau, Sarasota Memorial’s Director of Volunteer Services recognized the Auxiliary for its more than 65 years of service and essential role volunteers serve throughout the health care system.

About the SMH Auxiliary
The SMH Auxiliary mission is to support health care in Sarasota County.   In that role, the Auxiliary raises funds from various sales in the Hospital and uses those funds to provide scholarships to high school seniors in Sarasota county who met specific criteria.  The principal criteria are to major in a health care related field, maintain a specific grade point average, and come from a family with household income under $50,000.  To date the Auxiliary has provided over $300,000 in scholarships and grants to the community. The SMH Auxiliary is a stand-alone corporation and is a 501-c-3 entity.”
