SARASOTA - (June 21, 2010) – Sarasota Memorial Health Care System recently celebrated a construction milestone — the unveiling of the hospital’s new Women’s & Minimally Invasive Surgery Center.

Separate from the Courtyard Tower on the “front lawn” of the hospital but part of ongoing campus improvements, Sarasota Memorial’s new Women’s & Minimally Invasive Surgery Suites were completed this month. The four new “iSuite” operating rooms, which are part of a major expansion of the hospital’s Critical Care Center, are equipped with state-of-the-art technologies to enhance quality, safety and efficiency, including minimally invasive and robotic surgical systems and advanced optics. Fully integrated with high-definition video imaging and visualization, the suites also have world-class equipment booms and surgical lights, minimizing clutter while enhancing safety and energy efficiency.

The Critical Care expansion also includes a new 16-bay pre-operative and post-operative area, a new hemodialysis unit and sterile processing area, and a new pedestrian bridge over Arlington Street. Overall, the expansion includes 37,000 square feet of new construction and 13,000 square feet of renovated space.
