St. Armands Urgent Care CenterSarasota Memorial’s plan to build an urgent care center on St. Armands Circle received approval from the City Planning Board on Oct. 14.

The Sarasota County Public Hospital Board bought the property at 500 John Ringling Blvd for $3.6 million late last year. It plans to demolish the existing building and construct and open a new clinic as early as October 2016.

It will be Sarasota Memorial’s sixth urgent care center in Manatee and Sarasota counties, and the first dedicated to the coastal communities surrounding St. Armands, Longboat Key, Lido Key, Bird Key and Plymouth Harbor.

Like all of Sarasota Memorial’s urgent care centers, the St. Armands location will be open 8 am-8 pm seven days a week, including most holidays. Staffed by Sarasota Memorial’s board certified emergency, family and internal medicine physicians, the centers provide immediate care for non-life threatening illnesses and injuries, such as fractures, sprains, lacerations and burns, as well as the common cold, sore throats, flu, ear infections, bronchitis and urinary problems. Lab and X-ray services will also be provided on site.
